About Me

Hello everyone,  it is great to meet you!

A little about me:
I grew up on a horse and cattle ranch but moved to suburbia after marrying my wonderful Hubby. Its been difficult putting my farm skills to use on a tiny lawn but our "urban homestead" continues to grow and provide for our family as we find more ways to use the space we have. I am horrible at math and have an irrational fear of centipedes.

My way of life:
Even though I don't have acres and acres to roam now I try to replicate the life I had growing up: eating whole foods like meat, veggies, fruits, and nuts, not worrying about fat content, spending as much time outside as possible, and growing/preserving what we eat. After I left home I developed some pretty bad habits of living on highly processed foodstuffs, which I try to limit today. It means more cooking but since I've stopped buying the brightly colored boxes our health has greatly improved.

My activities:
I love to SCUBA dive, especially when I get to hunt crabs/lobsters or go spearfishing. At home I am usually getting dirty in the gardens or in the kitchen trying out a new recipe while I chase our two rugrats around.

Why the "Primal Gardener"?
'Primal' means the original or fundamental, and that's what this page is all about. Its getting back to the basic things in life, the simple things, like good food and enjoying time with family and friends. Here you'll find posts about a new recipe I created, or an awesome one I found online; some Pinterest-worthy crafty experiment, garden updates, tips and tricks for garden and household chores, and pretty much whatever is going on the moment. Enjoy!
