Who would have thought that a tiny 7 pound bundle of drool and floppiness would have turned my life upside down, or that I would love every second of it? Happy birthday Munchkin!!
My folks came over for the big event and brought 2 dozen fertile eggs from their flock of Barred Rocks (or Dominiques-there a slight disagreement of what breed they are) plus an incubator. I've been talking about adding a chicken or two to our flock and Mom offered the eggs and equipment-of course I'm going to jump on it!
Way back when my folks raised chickens, ducks, and pheasants to sell we would hatch out chicks every spring. I can remember staring into the incubator for hours, waiting for those first few peeps that would signal hatching was about to start. The ducks were always my favorite.
